Middle Stage Subjects

Theme

Understanding skills, imaginative skills and questioning,address the problem of curricular burden by restricting and reorienting knowledge at different levels.   They provide opportunities for contemplation, wondering and discussion in groups. The story of ‘WHO DID PATRICK’S HOMEWORK?’ includes fiction, which is enjoyable by children. Teacher can use role-play as method to teach the story. Some stories like ‘TARO’S REWARD’; ‘FAIR PLAY’; AND ‘A GAME OF CHANCE’ intends to inculcate the moral values they learn from these stories. These morals act as stepping stone for students’ personal development. The other stories ‘A DIFFERENT KIND OF SCHOOL’; DESERT ANIMALS’; WHO AM I’ aims at briefing out the description made and writing such description in their own words. The lesson- AN INDIAN AMERICAN WOMEN KALPANA CHAWLA provides students with an encouragement to work hard and achieve their goals.

SUPPLEMENTARY TEXT BOOK

1.    This book contains short stories which are easily understood and are enjoyable also.

2.    These stories can be given a personal touch by students and recreated by them with student’s personal experience.

3.    Students enjoy reading these stories as these contain many characters which can discuss in groups.

5. Subject: Science-Physical  Sciences

Theme

Chapter 1,2 – What is chemical reaction , their physical and chemical properties , properties of acids , bases and salt . PH scale.

Chapter 3,4 – Physical and chemical properties of metal and non-metals, carbon and its compound, nomenclature.

Chapter 5- How to classify the elements in Mendeleev periodic table and modern periodic table ethics of Mendeleev periodic table advantage of modern periodic table. chapter 10 ,11 reflection and refraction of light, image formation , power of accommodation, defect of eye vision, atmospheric , ray diagram.

Chapter-12,13 –Re sister in series, parallel heating effect of electric current, magnetic effect of electric current, electric motor and generator , domestic electric circuits.

Chapter 14- Conventional and non-conventional sources of energy, different forms of energy.

Theme

Resources and development is a process of transformation of things available in our environment it involves an inter-dependent and inter-related. Three economical activities are explained. (primary: Agriculture and Minerals, Secondary: Industries, Tertiary: Transport, communication and trade). Water Resources: Water is a renewable resource, how dams help us in conserving and managing water.

7. Subject: Social Science-History  

Theme

The history of its existence is no more than 250 years old. How did the modern nation come into being? How did people being to see themselves as belonging to a nation? The sense of belonging to a nation developed only over a period of time. The idea of nationalism emerged in Europe, how territories were unified, and national governments formed. It also help to understand how nationalism is colonial countries can develop in a variety of ways, glorify contracting ideas, and be linked to different modes of struggle. Print culture, we might find it difficult today to imagine a time when printing was still unknown. We learn how the history of the contemporary world is intimately connected with the growth of print.
