Middle Stage Subjects

1. Subject: English

Theme

Understanding skills, imaginative skills and questioning,address the problem of curricular burden by restricting and reorienting knowledge at different levels.   They provide opportunities for contemplation, wondering and discussion in groups. The story of ‘WHO DID PATRICK’S HOMEWORK?’ includes fiction, which is enjoyable by children. Teacher can use role-play as method to teach the story. Some stories like ‘TARO’S REWARD’; ‘FAIR PLAY’; AND ‘A GAME OF CHANCE’ intends to inculcate the moral values they learn from these stories. These morals act as stepping stone for students’ personal development. The other stories ‘A DIFFERENT KIND OF SCHOOL’; DESERT ANIMALS’; WHO AM I’ aims at briefing out the description made and writing such description in their own words. The lesson- AN INDIAN AMERICAN WOMEN KALPANA CHAWLA provides students with an encouragement to work hard and achieve their goals.

SUPPLEMENTARY TEXT BOOK

1.    This book contains short stories which are easily understood and are enjoyable also.

2.    These stories can be given a personal touch by students and recreated by them with student’s personal experience.

3.    Students enjoy reading these stories as these contain many characters which can discuss in groups.

4.    The story contained in this book like ‘A TALE OF TWO BIRDS’; THE FRIENDLY MONGOOSE’; THE MONKEY AND CROCODILE’ and ‘WHAT HAPPENED TO REPTILES’ aim at creating respect towards animals. The students as responsible citizens of worlds should respect and learn to safeguard the natural resources of world.

5.    The story such as ‘THE OLD CLOCK SHOP’; ‘THE SHEPHERD’S TREASURE’; ‘A PACT WITH SUN’; ‘TANSEN’; focus on teaching humanity to children and aims at personal development of children.

6.    These stories help teacher to inculcate good habits and manners and characteristics of such characters in such students.

Theme

Knowing our number two methods of expressing numbers in words and digits, whole numbers are positive number including zero. without decimal or fractional part , playing with numbers, factors, multiples, prime, composite number, divisibility of numbers, common factors ,common multiples, LCM, HCF, Addition of integers , subtractions of integers , representation of integers on a number line, types of fraction , decimal on number line, fraction as decimal decimal as fraction comparing fraction addition and subtraction of decimal. * Geometry such as point , line line segment , ray ,angles type of angles, different shapes like polygon, circle , part of circle, open curves closed curves, prisms pyramids corners, edges, triangles, types of triangles ,perpendicular line, parallel line , line of symmetry reflection and symmetry. * Type of graphs ,tally chart , pictograph, bar graph, organisation of data. Chapter 3 How we get fabric from natural and synthetic fibre. Fibre from plants and animals.

Chapter 4, 5 How does the material shorting based on their properties , different types of separation methods.

Chapter 6- Reversible or irreversible changes.

Chapter 7 What are the parts of plants root stem ,flower leaf. Function of leaf stem.

Chapter 8- movements of animals joints of human bodies stretches hinge joint, pelvic joint etc.

Le-1: The lesson is about the three questions asked by the king and he come to know the answers in practical. Students express their views and discussion session can be done.

Le-2: The story about the children’s their spontaneity and imagination, ability to see contradictions in behavior and moving acts of charity.

Le-3: A comic story to be understood through pictures with strips of text for support. Children will have a natural enthusiasm for this new kind of material.

Le-4: A Japanese story, about the spirit of the dog who underscores values such as honesty, compassion, diligence.

Le-5: A story about dedication to work of high quality with the passion of an artist and the eventual loss of art and quality in a world of competition and consumerism.

Le-6: The story is about Nishad and Maya who acts as detectives in the making with the talent for spotting evidence and creativity

Le-7: A fantasy depicting children’s fanciful wishes and ideas. ‘Wonka-Vite’, an exotic potion invented by Mr Willy Wonk, enables the people to become old, older, oldest.

Le-8: Natural phenomenon, fire is both friend and enemy. An informative piece about a potential hazard that can easily be prevented.

Le-9: Exaggerated details of a common place event that never takes off, though numerous unexpected things happen in the process.

Le-10: The story of cricket told in a historical perspective.

Supplementary: (An Alien Hand): Supplementary is related to moral stories , from these children learn self respect and care towards animal life, nature and humanity.

Social Science-History

Theme

Tracing changes through a thousand years. New kings and kingdoms:(Delhi sultans, Mughal empire….) their building construction, trade and craft. Devotional path to the divine: though different kinds of bhakti which evolves since 8th century.

Social Science Political Science

Theme

It helps to understand that equality and democracy are dynamic and not static concepts. The concept of gender, primarily by women, house work is not considered as ‘work’ and therefore made invisible and devalued. Next topic explained about how women change the world. Different marks and how markets offer people different opportunities.

Methodology

Le-5: About reaching the highest summit in the world and text underscores the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the adventure in a single perspective

10.Reaching the Age of adolescence-changes takes place in puberty and role of hormones on adolescence.

18.Pollution of air and water-causes of air and water pollutants,major air and water pollutants,effects of pollution on living organisms.

Methodology

Diagrammatic representation showing cells is followed either on white board or black board . Discussion method showing the pictures of endemic,endangered species and conservation by national parks sanctuaries. discussion method is followed using TLM resources, SLP, SEDSS, Activity Based Learning, Project Based Learning

5. Subject: Physical Science 

Theme

Pictures of highly polluted areas –discussion method.

Chapter 3, 5, 6- Coal and petroleum, synthetic fibre which is derived from petroleum combination in the presence of oxygen.

Chapter 4- Physical and chemical property of metals and nonmetals.

Chapter 11, 12 What is force and pressure, friction, gravitational force

Chapter 13 How does sound produce what is vocal cord what is the high pitch and low pitch sound.

Chapter 14, 15, 16- What is electric current , electroplating some natural phenomena thundering, transfer of charges, earthquake. What is the light and reflection, law of reflection.

Chapter- 17 Studies about heavenly bodies, (star moon planet and solar system).

7. Subject: History 

Two history text books our past-III (part-1 and part-2)

PART-1: Colonisation of British from trade to territory. Ruling the country side and from new towns. In this part rebel begins in 1857.

PART-2: problems faced by all sections of the people in India not only for the rulers, weavers, Iron smelters and education Many changes came in women’s and caste reforms, National movement from 1870-1947.
