The Right Start to School for School Readiness and Preparation is a disruptive innovation and initiative for primary school readiness of the young learners and ensures their smooth transition into class I.
At the Foundation Stage, the aim is to develop basic numeracy and literacy among the young learners. The focus is to lay a strong foundation at this stage in Math, EVS and Languages to ensure that learners are prepared to face the challenges of the next stages of education.
The Foundation Stage facilitates in developing the social, cognitive, cultural, emotional and physical skills of the learners.
Foundation Stage Subjects
Classes: Nursery, LKG, UKG, Classes I and II
Age group: 3-8 years
Focus: Develop basic numeracy and literacy, lay a strong foundation in Math, EVS, Languages to prepare young learners for the challenges of the next stages of education.
Facilitate in developing the social, cognitive, cultural, emotional and physical skills of the learners.
The main goal of the Pre-Pre-Primary stage is the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of young children.
This stage provides a stimulating and child-oriented learning environment. Young children can touch, learn and explore without fear. The end result is: imbibing the joy of learning so that a number of concepts get established.

Cursive writing
“Students who have mastered good handwriting are more creative”.
Practice of cursive writing develops fine motor skills and improves brain development, as it involves multiple processes ; the movement of hand , the thought of the letter and the visual of the letter.
Three packs of cursive writing books are designed for different schooling stages.
Pack I – focuses on preparing children to read and draw
Pack II – emphasizes on understanding of content of text
Pack III – aims to increase the students’ comprehension capacity.
All the three packs are linked and include sight words, rhyming words, compound words, proverbs and subject related words.
Pre Primary Education in LNS
• Pre- primary education serves as a bridge between the house and school environment. It is the initial stage of organized and structured instruction, specially designed to introduce young learners to the school environment.
• Lotus National School conducts various hands on activities geared towards all round development of the child and preparing a quality student feeder for class I.
• The focus is on physical, mental and emotional growth of the child to develop motor skills and build self-esteem.
• The children are involved in oral and play activities like poem recitation, storytelling, sand and water play, indoor and outdoor activities to enhance exploration skills.
Safety and Security
LNS believes in keeping the school and its environment safe and secure. This helps in creating a child friendly environment to promote social and creative learning and encourages students to explore, learn and grow.
• Fire Safety: Fire extinguishers and metal stairways for fire evacuation
• Indoor Air Quality: The classrooms have high ceilings, ventilators and fans improve air circulation and quality
• Natural Daylight: The clear glass windows allow ample daylight to create a mood elevating effect and lessen the stress on the eyes
• RO System is provided for drinking water safety and regular water testing is undertaken
• CCTV Cameras: CCTV cameras and devices are fitted o closely monitor movement of people
• Separate Labelled Rest Rooms for boys, girls and faculty provide adequate privacy and safety. Drivers, cleaning crews and security personnel use designated rest rooms
• Security Personnel Post: Security personnel are posted at the school entrance. A log book is maintained to monitor the movement of people
• Shatter-proof Glass Windows for the Foundation and Preparatory stages ensure additional safety and prevent untoward accidents
• Earth pits are provided to protect electrification and ensure safety of students, staff and users
Celebration of Festivals
• A LNS, students are exposed to various cultures through celebrations of all religious festivals to develop tolerance, understanding and respect for communities
• A sprit of patriotism is inculcated among the students by celebrating National Days, such as Republic and Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi etc.
• Lotus National School also celebrates school events like Investiture ceremony, Teachers Day, Sports and Annual day, Childrens day, School Day, Grandparents day, Mathrudevobava etc.
• The LNS pre-primary classes celebrate Colour Day with great enthusiasm and fervour by devoting an entire week to a particular colour involving activities.

The main goal of the Pre-Pre-Primary stage is the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of young children. This stage provides a stimulating, child-oriented learning environment. Artistic and creative activities like painting, modeling and drawing; music and singing; recitation of poems and rhymes; storytelling; picture reading etc. are important. Students are exposed to various activities, both in scholastic and co-scholastic areas for holistic growth. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) approach is followed in academic subjects as well as in development of life skills.
Academics at the Middle Stage build a platform for children to develop love for learning and build competence and self-confidence The curriculum exposes the students to various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities through comprehensive academic projects.
The academic and skill development programs at this stage focus on subject matter understanding to lay the foundation for consolidation of learning. Basic Core Skills like communication skills, learning through context, questioning skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing (LSRW), building language and subject vocabulary, understanding health and wellness are taught at this stage.
The focus is on consolidation of learning of the Preparatory Stage for building subject knowledge and understanding. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) education is given importance for increasing visual learning, creativity, improving academic performance and better decision making abilities for enhanced learning experience.
Programs like Student Learning Portfolio (SLP), School Experience for Development of Skill Sets (SEDSS), Applied Learning and Project Based Learning are implemented. These programs develop individual and group skills, cooperation and coordination, planning, observation, problem solving, critical thinking etc. The Core Skills program is elevated to the next level to increase depth and dimension to support challenges of learning, living and working. Subject Domain Skills are introduced to facilitate connection of concepts learnt in the class room to real life situations.
The Secondary Stage comprises of four years of in-depth subject matter understanding and study. In addition to this, students are exposed to various priority sectors and subject-sector linkages. This is for students to understand the relevance of subjects and prepare students for college and career readiness and preparation.
Emphasis is given on developing Workplace Language Communication Skills (WLCS) to prepare students for the world of work. Students are encouraged to set goals and plan for their future college and career prospects based on their interests, abilities, aptitude and need.
